- Workshop weekend with Titilope Sonuga OR your self-directed writing retreat
- LIMITED ENROLLMENT: Black Cat Guest Ranch (near Hinton, AB) has 11 rooms and can accommodate 22 people MAX (double occupancy).

JustWrite Rates:

Note: If you come alone, and select DOUBLE, you will be paired with someone else signed up for JustWrite, AHS restrictions permitting. If you already know who you are sharing a DOUBLE occupancy room with, please indicate their name when you are registering so we know whom to pair you with.

1. Workshop Option is $610 per person for SINGLE.

2. Workshop Option is $505 per person for DOUBLE.

3. Retreat Option is $520 per person for SINGLE.

4. Retreat Option is $415 per person for DOUBLE.

If you choose to pay via PayPal you will be charged a 3% service fee.

Fees include:

A weekend of instruction and writing activities led by highly qualified instructional and supervisory staff (or time by yourself, simply to write!)

Titilope Sonuga

Bio

Titilope Sonuga is a Nigerian writer, poet, playwright and performer whose work grasps for moments of tenderness and persistent joy at the intersection of blackness and womanhood. She is the author of three award-winning collections of poetry, Down to Earth (2011), Abscess (2014), and This Is How We Disappear (2019) and has composed and released two spoken word albums, Mother Tongue (2011) and Swim (2019). Titilope has written three plays, The Six; an intergenerational exploration of womanhood, Naked; a one-woman play and Ada The Country, a musical. She has scripted global advertising campaigns for brands including; The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Google, Intel Corporation, Guaranty Trust Bank and The MacArthur Foundation. Titilope is the 9th Poet Laureate of the City of Edmonton.

Course

To The Bone

This workshop is an excavation. We are digging into the bone, into the truth and writing from the depth of our lived experience. The personal is poetic and our world building and storytelling can begin with the everyday magic of our own lives. Writers will participate in readings, writing exercises, and discussion that will explore these ideas. We will be creating from small intimate moments with big impact on and off the page.
